Frigid January
in Wisconsin
After diverting at the last possible moment from
Grand Geneva's ice-covered runway, we ended up landing at Lake Lawn Lodge
instead (C02). Normally not plowing the runway would be a bad thing --
but in this case, it allowed for more traction than the glare-ice covered
plowed runway did in Lake Geneva.
The wind was right down the runway, too -- which
helped immensely.
When these pictures were taken on 1/18/04, the
temperature was just above zero, and the winds were howling at 15, gusts to
20, for a wind-chill factor of -25 degrees. Check out that
cobalt-blue sky!
