2/28/08 The Penguin has arrived!
Keith and Jim have continued development of the
original Kiwi concept, and in February 2008 introduced their latest
rendition, christened "The Penguin". Now a TWO-place simulator,
the Penguin allows a pilot/co-pilot arrangement that will be much better for
the Children's Museum staff to handle. (Twice the kids per "ride")
It's also a lot more fun to share the experience!
Utilizing everything we learned with our original
"Kiwi" (shown at the bottom of this page), the Penguin is much more
ergonomically correct, without sharp edges and uprights to bang your knees
on. We will "acid test" it at the Inn for several months, using
unsuspecting hotel guests as "guinea pigs" to help Keith and Jim de-bug the
rig. Once perfected with input from our experience, they will
build EIGHT of the final, truly "kid-proof" versions for the Iowa Children's
Museum, for the aviation exhibit that is slated to open in June of 2009.
Here are a few pix of our son, Joe, testing
out the new Penguin:
