Blakesburg 2006
Every year, owners of classic aircraft from
across the country gather in the unlikely spot of Blakesburg, Iowa, home of
the Antique Aircraft Association.
Mary and I have attended for several years, after
being invited by Bill and Sharon Tinkler back in 2003 (The AAA keeps out the
riff raff by making their fly-in a "by-invitation-only" event), and have
always been rewarded by cold, soaking rain and awful weather.
Not this year! As can be seen by the
photos, below, the weather simply could not have been better, and the sights
and sounds of round engines flying off Blakesburg's soft grass strip will
remain with me forever.
