2007 SERTOMA Breakfast
Each year the SERvice TO MAnkind club organizes a
fly-in/drive-in pancake breakfast at the Iowa City Airport. Each year
since we opened, in 2002, we have participated with a booth, doing a drawing
for a free hot tub suite stay, and giving away helium balloons to the kids.
This was the first year I felt comfortable
telling Mary that the kids and I could handle the crowd. We weren't
counting on perfect late-summer weather bringing out record crowds!
We gave away ~1,000 balloons, had almost 400
entrants in our give-away -- and none of us ever got to eat pancakes!
The lines of expectant kids often stretched four or five deep, so we were
kept HOPPING!
It was a great time.
Here's a video,
