2007 Flight to PDC with Lexy
On September 16th we flew with Becca and her
friend Lexy to Prairie du Chien, WI for Sunday brunch. While en
route, we came upon an interesting cloud layer near Dubuque that eventually
forced us to duck underneath it as it thickened up.
It was a remarkably thin, wispy layer, perhaps
only 200 feet thick, but it was quite dense and could not be seen through.
They looked a lot like lenticular clouds, usually associated with turbulent
mountain waves -- but the air was perfectly smooth.
We had a great brunch, and the cloud layer
completely dispersed while we ate. Other than some ear block on the
descent into Iowa City, Lexy seemed to enjoy herself.
