2005 SERTOMA Fly-In
Each
year the Iowa City SERTOMA (SERvice TO MAnkind) Club organizes a fly-in
breakfast at the Iowa City Airport. Since we opened in 2002 it
has become a tradition for us to house the crews of the show planes that fly
in for the weekend, and for us to give away balloons, candy, and a free
night in a suite at the fly-in itself.
This year -- SERTOMA's 27th annual event -- was
no different. The
Prairie
Aviation Museum's DC-3, painted in original Ozark Air Lines colors, was
the special star of the show, and we proudly provided luxury suites for
Captain Bob Davies and his crew in exchange for some artwork, memorabilia,
and (of course!) a couple of rides in the DC-3!
The event was blessed with *perfect* weather, and
was incredibly well-attended. We ran out of ribbons for the balloons,
coupons for the adults, and just had a wonderful time. As always, we
held a drawing for a free night in our "Pan Am
Clipper" honeymoon suite, and local radio personality Roy Justis drew
Andrew Stagg's name from the hundreds of entries.
Here are some pictures from that wonderful
late-summer day:
